For the record...

My last post DOES have something to do with the recordings of my album, since I love video games and find them calming, soothing and theraputic. And I could really use a little inspiration as the we're about to pick up the pace and start recording.

I'm going to make this a regular thing I think. I mean, what inspires me and keeps me creative and motivated when writing and recording.

Well, it's time to hit the sack (that's what she said... Hahaha I'm on fire today!!!) 'cause tomorrow we're going to Stockholm to visit Malin's mother and I'm getting my Xbox! Good night....

Viva la Xbox 360!!!

Oh my Goooood... My birthday is coming up (November 11th) and I just found out the other day what I'm getting from my parents as a combined birthday/Christmas gift. Yeah, that's right - I'm getting an Xbox 360!!!

It all started as a joke. It went a little something like this:

My parents: - Sooo... What do you want for your birthday?
Me (without any hesitation at all) - A Nintendo Wii.
My parents: - Um. Ok. Hehe.
Me: - Hehe.

Approximately two weeks later (yesterday) I met my mother to give her a key, and she said:
- So... Do you want a Nintendo Wii for your birthday?
Me (with some hesitation): Yeaaah... Well, I mean, of course I do!

Then she said I could have Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or whatever it was I wanted, since they wanted to get me something special and didn't really know what to give me. So I started surfing the internet, looking for clues to what concole is the absolute BEST for a gamer of my caliber. I soon found out that Xbox 360 is the right way to go, since there are soooo many games I want that are available for it.

SO, tomorrow I'm getting it!!! Wow, I feel like a kid before Christmas. I will tell you more about what kind of package I'm getting tomorrow (that's what she said).

Today's session

Today's session was good. We did two songs, one of which I think will be something really special. A hip-hop, bouncy ballad, storytelling kind of track. It will be an awesome track when it's finished, for sure. We also did another track, but I'm not sure how that one will be developed so I won't say anything about it yet.

We have booked another session for Tuesday, and during that session we will go back to the tracks we have done so far and kind of sort them out a little and work on the ones we think are true gems. That should be a lot of fun, and I will probably work on some lyrics while we're developing the beats.

Tomorrow and Thursday will be kind of uncreative as far as music is concerned, since I've got some other things to do. But on Friday I will write some new stuff and keep it up throughout the weekend.

Studio session cancelled

Unfortunately I got called in to work today, so the studio session we had booked for today got moved to tomorrow. Maybe it's a good thing, 'cause tomorrow we'll have more time in the studio than we would have had today.

Stay tuned.

Busy week

Yup, it's sunday afternoon and I'm looking forward to a busy week as far as music is concerned. I've got five days "off" from work and I will cram as much music work into them as possible. I will book at least two studio sessions with Jonathan, hopefully monday and tuesday, and then I'll just write my ass off trying to finish some songs so we can start recording some vocals soon. In a week perhaps.

The show last night was cool. Not a lot of people, but I was tight, Circus did his thing and Jonathan came on stage with us and performed ALL of the songs from the EP, so that was really cool. Thanks man.

I'm going to write a little now and then chill tonight, getting ready for the upcoming week.

Looking forward to tomorrow...

I'm stoked about the live show tomorrow. It's going to be a lot of fun, especially since Jonathan will be joining me on stage for the last couple of songs. We have never performed live together, so that should be tons of fun.

Gratis = bra. Ses där!

I'll be back later with an update on the writing session I will have in a moment.

This is going to be awwwwwesome...

I'm listening to the song we started working on during our last session and let me tell you this: it sounds awwwwwesommmmmeeee!!! This song is going to be something real special to me and all of you. It's not often I feel like talking about something "deep" or something that even slightly resembles something that could be considered political, but on this one I just speak my mind. I'm like "Fuck it, this is how I feel"...

I've been watching some videos of studio sessions with Tupac and GODDAMNIT the man was incredible in the studio. He often wrote his lyrics on the spot and more often than not nailed them in one take (like me). I find Tupac very inspirational in that way and think he has done some truly amazing things. Just listen to this song, it could actually be the best rap song ever written.

Yesterday's session

Ok, since my internet screwed up my last post where I wrote a looong entry about yesterday's studio session; here's an update...

It was an incredible session. We did a new song which when it's finished will easily candidate as the best JaeWon song ever. Jonathan really outdid himself on the production part, I stepped my lyrical theme game up and it's overall an amazing song. I've already written the first verse and it's some serious, real shit. We even recorded a chorus for it yesterday.

If you read my posts from earlier this week you'll know that I had some problems with a verse I've been working on for another new song. And I wasn't too happy about that... Well, it's days like this one I had yesterday that makes it all worth it. All that hard work, agony and most of all the time you spend on your art. Simply amazing.

Live show this Saturday

I've booked a last minute live show this Saturday to get out of the studio/writing state of mind for a night. If you're in Norrtälje and want to experience some good live music, come to Uhuset at the docks 8pm and watch me do my thing.

See you there.

Incredible

I just wrote a long ass post and then my internet fucked it all up. I'll rewrite this tomorrow... Sigh...

Mmmmyaaawn...

Just woke up, I must have been really exhausted from yesterday's writing session. Fuckin' verse. Still bothers me that I didn't finish it. I'll get it done today though, if I don't I'm going to throw a fit and skip the entire verse. We'll see how it goes.

Now I'm going to eat a can of Ravioli (Welcome to the good life) and then I'm off to the studio to create some new material. I really hope we can do two songs today, that would be really cool.

I'll post another entry when I get back.

All right

Well... I gave the verse another try and changed the structure of it and I think I've found the right way to do it. I'm going to finish writing it tomorrow, then go on with the second verse (which I've already started and got a good structure of as well). It's a real hassle writing lyrics sometimes, especially rap since there are soooo much lyrics to write. I mean, in a pop song you can write like four lines and have two verses finished. It all depends on what kind of music you're writing. I'm writing rap with multi syllable rhymes and intricate flows, so I need a lot more than four lines to have a full song. AND I'm a slow writer nowadays. I can't believe I used to be able to write entire songs in an hour or so, from start to finish. Shit, maybe I'll get into it later on in the process of making this album. After all, this is just the first couple of songs I'm working on, there's a lot more to be done.

Tomorrow I'm going to make some music in the studio with Jonathan, hopefully I'll get some lyrics done while I'm there. We'll see. I'll update you tomorrow before and after the session.

!!!tihskcuF

Yeah read that backwards... Damn... I've been working on this verse for SIX HOURS now and I just can't seem to get it right. That's the worst thing about being a writer, when things won't go your way and you just feel like you've been wasting your time. I hate feeling like that, but more often than not things work out just fine in the end. Maybe later today or tomorrow I'll figure out what's missing and it'll be just perfect. PHEEEW... I'm beat. I'm going to the store to buy some food, be back in half an hour or so. Then I'm going to give it an hour and see if I can get the verse right...

Going good.

I'm working on a new song right now and it is going great. The lyrics are coming along good and I promise, I've got some rhyme patterns in this song that will finish every last hope of any other rapper in the world EVER getting to my level, hahahahaha...

I'll be back.

Breakfast - check.

I just had breakfast and now I'm going to start working on some lyrics. I'll be back in a couple of hours to let you know how it's going.

Lil' update

Today I helped my parents move from the house where I lived from the age of 12 to the age of 20 to their new, beautiful apartment. It was fun.

I wrote a few rhymes on the bus on my way there and home, and I've got some hot stuff going on I guarantee. I'm going to keep writing tomorrow and see if I can finish a song or two. I'll keep you posted.

Crazy shizzle...

Shit's been crazy the last couple of days, but I'm sorry for not posting any new blogs. I was in the studio Wednesday and we started writing a really good song (what else is new?) that I think is single material. We'll see.

I'm going to the studio at least two days next week, hopefully three, and I will also do a lot of writing, so it should be a good week as far as creativity goes. I'll keep you posted.

Lots of other cool stuff coming soon as well. Vlog's (video blogs), live clips and studio footage. Stay tuned.

Studio today...

Yup, I'm going to the studio in an hour and a half, and I'm stoked to go and create something new, something fresh, maybe even something crazy. I've got some ideas and we're going to see what we can make of them.

The songs we have started working on so far are all very different from each other, but now I'm getting an idea of how I want the album to sound, what feelings I want to capture and what kind of style I want it to have. I think I'll feel even more sure of how it's going to develop after today's session.

I'll give you an update once I get back.

Woke up late

I got up at 7.30 this morning and went to the bathroom, thinking I would stay up and get some business done. Then I decided to lie down "for a minute" and fell asleep. When I woke up it was past 10.30 in the morning - weird. I must have been in need of some sleep, I guess. Well, I'm up now and I'm going to work in 40 minutes, so I'm going to get some breakfast now.

Yesterday I work on the lyrics for a song we started two weeks ago. It's going to be a great song, addressing all the doubters and haters trying to bring me down and get me to quit doing what I do. Fuck 'em. It's funny how easy it can be writing this type of song, but I guess it's because it is a topic I feel I have a lot of things to say when I speak on. This one could even be a... Nah, you'll have to wait some more. It's a BIG song though, trust me.

I'm going to keep working on it tomorrow.

Peace.

Home sweet home

We're back from Denmark and it was great. We had a blast and got to get away from work and all other everyday things and just spend some time together. It was GREAT.

Now I'm back in Sweden and I'm ready to work. I'm going to work on some lyrics today and on Wednesday I've booked a studio session. We're going to create something new on Wednesday, something fresh. I don't know what yet, but whatever it'll be it's going to be something awesome.

We had a studio session booked today but unfortunately we both had things to take care of so we moved it to Wednesday.

Now I'm going to take a nap, then I'm going to write. G'day.

Denmark

Yes y'all, me and Malin are going to Denmark for a family occasion early tomorrow morning and we'll be back late on Sunday. I might do a couple of blog posts from my cellphone, although I doubt I'll have the time to work on some songs (maybe a little on the bus). Buy hey, we'll see...

Take care and I'll talk to you on Sunday again.

Rock'n'roll, baby!!!

Today I had a very lucrative and satisfying session with Jonathan in the studio. We took some acoustic and electric guitars that I got last summer from my old pal Anders Lindkvist in Hallstavik, chopped, screwed, added some more instruments and turned the song into a real rock'n'roll ballad kind of song. A real banger.

I also started working on the lyrics for that song while we were making the beat and continued writing when I got home. It's going great. It's going to be a song where I talk about some REAL things. I don't mean no forced, deep shit - just real lyrics. We also talked about having a rock singer doing the chorus. I have one in mind, a person that I spoke to even before the "Some Kind Of Hero" project about a collaboration for my debut album. I'm going to contact him and see what he says. Curious? Haha...

Now I'm going to keep writing and see how the song takes shape. This is going to be a GREAT song, trust me.

Yaaaaawn

Malin is doing inventory at work (been there, done that, got the t-shirt) and won't be back until tomorrow afternoon, so I've been working on the lyrics for the song we started last week. Even though I haven't gotten that far yet, just bits and pieces, I feel strongly about this song. It's a special song. It might even be the TITLE TRACK for my album. I'm going to the studio tomorrow and I'm going to keep working on the lyrics while Jonathan works on the music, so we'll hopefully see if it makes the title track spot by tomorrow.

Right now I'm nodding off in front of the computer, so I'm going to brush my teeth and crash face first on the bed right now. I'll holler tomorrow (or later today, if you will).

This is me in like ten minutes:

Broke the rule...

I know I've broken the one post a day-rule, but I've been sick and still working my dayjob every other day. It takes a lot more from you when you don't have that strength we're all used to having, when you sneeze and cough all the time and your throat is killing you. Whine, whine - fuck it, I'll get better soon.

The day after I last wrote here, October 1st that is, I went straight to the studio after work and it was raining. Seriously, it's been a long time since I saw that much rain, and I live in Sweden goddamnit. I rode my bike to the studio and I was soaked when I got there. Soaked, cold and with a cold we still managed to make one of the best beats so far for the album. As usual it started out as one song and then it turned into a completely different one as we went on. It's a wonderful feeling to create and feel that you've done something great with your time and energy. We've got another session booked for Tuesday and we're going to continue working on the song we started last time.

I will soon tell you about the title for my debut album, and I will also tell you about the thought behind the album. Whoa, a concept album?! Who knows...

Stay tuned.
